The Delhi government had earlier in the week banned app-based taxi services such as Rapido and Uber in view of absence of a policy for plying bike taxis on city roads
The High Court, in its May 26 order, had essentially allowed bike-taxi aggregators Rapido and Uber to operate in the national capital by asking the Delhi government not to take any coercive action against them until a new policy on the matter was formulated
The food delivery platforms have also sought clarification from the government on the directive while claiming that there has been a misinterpretation of the notice as the ban is applicable to bike taxi service providers
Uber said it is ready to commit to the same phased electrification mandates including full fleet electrification timelines as suggested for delivery companies
