Daniel EK, the chief executive officer of podcast-sharing platform Spotify made a visit to the US Congress to provide his support to pass an anti-trust bill. According to him, the bill will ensure a fair digital atmosphere in the coming time.

On Wednesday, the Swedish billionaire wrote in a blog post that a bipartisan Open Markets App Act would be pivotal in restructuring the digital landscape in the country. He also suggested that the new act would bring innovation and an environment of fair competition.

According to a report by Fox Business, Ek is currently in Washington to support the demand. He said to have meetings with officials like Gina Raimondo (Commerce Secretary), Kevin Mccarthy (House Speaker) and Chuck Summer (The leader of the majority in the US Senate).

The billionaire accused tech giant Apple of prohibiting competition in the market, he said that the tech giant restricts the developers from engaging with their users through several features including deals and products.

“For instance, Apple promotes deals for Apple Music to Spotify customers but denies us the same privilege. What’s even more unbelievable, is that we can’t even tell our users the basics of how to sign up for a Spotify subscription or how to purchase audiobooks," he said. "This leaves customers without the ability to make informed choices about the services and pricing options available to them," he added.

His battle with Apple was fueled after the tech company rejected Spotify’s audiobook features multiple times before allowing it in a limited capacity, last year. In a statement, the Tim Cook-led organisation cited that Spotify did not follow in-app communications guidelines while making the new feature.
