Vaz will remain with the company until May 2023 in an advisory role and is leaving to pursue entrepreneurial opportunities
Dale Vaz, the Chief Technology Officer of Swiggy, has resigned from the company after serving for nearly five years. Vaz had joined Swiggy after working at Amazon for eleven years. He will be replaced by Madhusudhan Rao, who has been with Swiggy for over four years and is currently serving as the Senior Vice President of ConsumerTech and FinTech (Engineering and Product) at the company, Moneycontrol reported.
A spokesperson for Swiggy confirmed that Vaz would be leaving the company to pursue entrepreneurial opportunities and he will continue in his role until May 2023. Vaz will also be associated with Swiggy in an advisory role for an extended period. The spokesperson expressed gratitude to Vaz for his contributions to the company during his tenure.
The new CTO, Rao, has decades of tech leadership experience and a proven track record of understanding customers' needs. The spokesperson expressed confidence in Rao's ability to handle the role of CTO and continue the company's growth.
This development comes shortly after Karthik Gurumurthy, the head of Swiggy's Instamart, announced that he would be taking a sabbatical. Phani Kishan Addepalli will be assuming his responsibilities. Addepalli is also the head of Swiggy's InsanelyGood business and was elevated to the position of co-founder in July 2021.
Swiggy is a food delivery and logistics company based in India that provides a platform for customers to order food from nearby restaurants. The company has grown rapidly in recent years and has become one of the leading food delivery services in India. The company has raised over $2.5 billion in funding and has a valuation of over $5 billion.
The departure of Dale Vaz marks the end of an era for Swiggy, as he was a key member of the company's leadership team. However, the appointment of Madhusudhan Rao as the new CTO demonstrates the company's commitment to maintaining its technological edge and continuing its growth. With the food delivery market in India continuing to expand, Swiggy will need to stay at the forefront of innovation to remain competitive.
