Swiggy, an online food delivery platform in India, has launched a new initiative called Swiggy Launchpad, offering new restaurant partners a zero per cent commission for their first month on the platform. The aim is to encourage new restaurants to recognise online delivery as a channel for growth. The initiative is part of Swiggy's strategy to build a mutually beneficial relationship with the restaurant partner ecosystem.

The offer applies to all new partners joining the platform across India and can potentially save them up to Rs 20,000 through commission savings and other benefits. Swiggy hopes the initiative will encourage more restaurants, cloud kitchens and food entrepreneurs to take the plunge into online food delivery.

Rohit Kapoor, chief executive officer (CEO) of Food Marketplace at Swiggy, said the offer of 0 per cent commission for the first month of operations will help more restaurants feel confident about online food delivery and take advantage of the benefits. Swiggy has more than 2.5 lakh restaurant partners enabled on its platform and typically onboard around 10,000 new restaurants every month.

The Launchpad initiative is expected to help restaurants invest more money into their businesses and drive further growth, creating a mutually beneficial relationship between Swiggy and its partners.

Swiggy has been expanding its business and services across India, offering online food delivery, groceries, medicines and other essentials. The company's growth has been fuelled by the increasing adoption of online food delivery services in India, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. Swiggy's new initiative is expected to further strengthen its position in the market and encourage more restaurants to join the platform.
