Direct-to-consumer ( D2C) brand Wow Skin Science registered Rs 340.4 crore in revenues in the financial year ( FY) 2022 compared to Rs 99.8 crore in FY21. It witnessed a 3.4x surge in revenues, Entrackr reported.

The company raised Rs 375 in funding from Singapore-GIC in June this year. The company infused the money considering a good growth momentum in FY2022.

The Bengaluru-based start-up is known for offering personal care products across categories like skin, hair, bath and body, wellness, nutrition and health. It uses an omnichannel method to make products.

Along with the revenues, it also witnessed a large increase in its expenses. The cost emerged as it signed deals with celebrities like Bhumi Pednekar, Rashmika Mandana and Kartik Aaryan as brand ambassadors and content creators. The advertisement was the largest cost centre accounting for 39 per cent of the total expenses. The costs rose to Rs 157 crore in 2022 from Rs 36.67 crore, registering a 4.28x increase.

Additionally, the company witnessed a 10x increase in allocation for commissions it paid to its selling agents. The amount rose to Rs 25 crore. Employee benefits costs surged to Rs 19.28 crore, reporting an 8.2x increase.

Overall, the start-up registered Rs 479.8 as net expenditures, highlighting a 4.4x increase from Rs 108.6 crore in FY21.

Amid a 'so-called' funding winter, D2C start-ups have performed well. A Tracxn report pointed out that the companies raised Rs 543 crore this year.
