A recent survey conducted among retailers in Ayodhya by Kirana Club revealed that over 70 per cent of stores are stocking up on Puja Samagri including cotton wicks, ghee and oil, diya, camphor, rice, and wheat, honey among other things before January 22.

Kirana owners are also stocking up on Packed Mithai and chocolates, with 15 per cent of retailers anticipating increased sales during the occasion, the survey observed.

The third-most stocked products at Kirana stores in Ayodhya are Chips and Namkeen. Over 9 per cent of retailers expect a heavy demand for these products as they prepare to welcome lakhs of devotees from across the country. Cold drinks and water as well as personal care products such as hair oil and soaps are some of the other categories being stocked up by kiranawallahs in the holy city, it added.

Kirana Club founder Anshul Gupta said, “Our survey among kirana owners in Ayodhya showcases optimism and festive spirit ahead of the historic inauguration of the Ram Temple. Local kirana owners are seeing this as a significant business opportunity to increase footfall in their stores and anticipate increased sales of Puja Samagri, Packed Mithai, and Chocolates.”

To participate in the inauguration of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on January 22, people from all over the country, and cutting across religions are flocking to the city.

The first phase of the temple is nearing completion and PM Narendra Modi will take part in its consecration ceremony.

The Supreme Court delivered a historic verdict in 2019, settling a temple-mosque dispute that dated back more than a century. The court backed the construction of a Ram temple at the disputed site and ruled that an alternative five-acre plot must be found for building a mosque.

Kirana Club is a major community of kirana owners. It is an app-based platform where Kirana owners participate, connect, and influence each other. The app has onboarded more than 15 lakh Kirana owners to date, spanning across 10 states and 16000 pin codes. Many national and regional brands are active on the platform, names include brands of FMCG giants like Perfetti, Pepsico, Cycle Pure, Daawat, and many more, the company claimed.
