To enhance the delivery partners' safety and well-being, Zomato, India's food ordering and delivery platform, organised 'India's Emergency Heroes' program at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi.

Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India, Government of India, attended the event, which is aimed at enabling delivery partners to learn the nuances of medical first-aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) through professional and certified training programs.

Through this initiative, Zomato aims to create awareness amongst its delivery partners and how vital skills can help them prevent severe injury or loss of life during medical emergencies. At the event, the company also announced that it will distribute Bluetooth-enabled helmets to over 3 lakh delivery partners, reiterating its continued endeavor to ensure delivery partner safety.

Rakesh Ranjan, CEO of Food Delivery at Zomato, said, "In the last few months, 10,000 delivery partners have received professional first-responder training to help with any emergency they might come across, including first-aid and CPRs. Today's event and the introduction of the distribution of Bluetooth-enabled helmets for delivery partners reinforce our commitment to their welfare and safety. We remain focused on exploring innovative ways to ensure the well-being of delivery partners and their communities."

At the event, the company hosted the 'Zomato Bravery Awards' ceremony to acknowledge the extraordinary efforts of five select delivery partners, who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.

Committed to creating a holistic and empowering ecosystem for all delivery partners, Zomato also celebrated 'Delivery Partners' Day' across 11 cities, where more than 1,500 delivery partners and their families were felicitated for their contributions. At the celebrations, mandatory traffic rules and road safety training were conducted in collaboration with the local traffic body.

Additionally, it provides each Zomato on-boarded delivery partner with Rs 10 lakh insurance coverage, free health insurance, maternity benefits, and income protection. It has also introduced an industry-leading rest facility, providing access to water, charging stations, washrooms, a 24/7 helpdesk, and first aid.

The firm also distributed over 250,000 wearable assets to delivery partners in FY23, incorporating reflector strips on jackets to aid their visibility at night. To create an inclusive environment for the delivery fleet, Zomato has introduced a comprehensive maternity insurance plan for female delivery partners, covering pregnancy-related expenses resulting from birth. It has also onboarded over 300 persons with disabilities and empowered 2,000 women through a dedicated program, which includes providing monthly two days of period rest.
