In the latest move, Swiggy has rolled out ambulance services for delivery partners and their dependents in emergencies.
Delivery partners can reach the ambulance service by tapping the SOS button on the partner app or through a toll-free number 1800-267-4242. The current average response time is said to be 12 minutes.
The service is free for delivery partners and their dependents, spouses and two children, who are also covered under the insurance provided by Swiggy. However, delivery partners can also avail the ambulance services for family members not covered under their insurance at a subsidised cost.
The platform which reportedly has over 3,00,000 delivery partners across the country has partnered with Dial4242 Ambulance Services for the initiative.
The process will require no documentation, delivery partners only need to confirm their partner ID, stated several media reports.
“We are committed to the safety of our delivery partners, and over the years have been investing in products and policies that prioritise their safety and well-being,” said Mihir Rajesh Shah, head of operations at Swiggy in an Economic Times (ET) report.
“With ambulance service, we are making sure that our delivery partners have safety and peace of mind, and can get help when they need it the most,” he added.
After having piloted in Bengaluru, Delhi, National Capital Region (NCR), Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, and Kolkata, the services are now available throughout the country. The ambulance service provider can dispatch different ambulances such as basic life support (BLS) ambulances, cardiac ambulances, advance life support (ALS), inter-state ambulances, Covid-19 ambulances, and hearse vans based on the severity of the case.
“We have more than 10,000 ambulances across over 500 cities in India with varied capabilities and on-ground support to reach the victim in a matter of minutes, saving a precious life,” said Jeetendra Lalwani, co-founder of Dial4242 in a media statement.
“The nearest cashless hospital will also be identified for Swiggy’s partners ensuring they get timely treatment. Further, Dial 4242 ambulance will wait until their treatment begins. We hope this sets the precedence for more platforms to follow,” he added.
