Proxgy has bagged the SuperNova Championship at Gitex Africa 2023, a tech and start-up event in the African Continent that witnessed the participation of over 700 start-ups worldwide. The everywhere-as-a-service aggregation platform also received a cash award of $50,000. 

Gitex Africa 2023 brought together around 900 exhibiting tech companies and start-ups, 30 government delegations, 250 global investors and international speakers, and several tech executives from over 100 countries. The event showcased Africa's achievements and opportunities, in addition to highlighting how the continent is poised to integrate into the global tech ecosystem.

The finals of the SuperNova Challenge took place on the 10X stage in Marrakech. The judging panel comprised industry experts from across the globe, including Dorothy McAuliffe, Special Representative of the Office of Global Partnerships, US Department of State, USA; Yuan-Ting Meng, investor and Africa tech columnist at DigiTimes, Taiwan; Alicia Levine, chief operating officer at UK's Chipper Cash; Jonathan Coury, US Attorney and Investor at Ghani Consulting; Petra Wolkenstein, general partner at Africa Fund, Start-up Wise Guys, Austria; and Sheel Mohnot, co-founder and general partner at Better Tomorrow Ventures.

Pulkit Ahuja, founder and CEO of Proxgy, claimed that it was the first Indian company to win this competition, which is a "testament to our entire team's hard work, dedication, and innovative mindset. Such recognitions motivate us to keep pushing boundaries and revolutionizing the tech industry for the blue-collar workers." 

The Gurugram-based start-up's solutions are focused on worker safety, insurance, worker compensation management, body cams, insurance claims, inspections, policing and remote assistance. Its product portfolio includes Lockator smart locks for industrial containers, trucks, and equipment, Sleefe slides to convert any cap into a smart cap, and SmartHat safety helmet. Designed to enhance worker safety, communication and collaboration, these solutions are equipped with features including real-time tracking, environment processing, 360-degree live video communication and gas leakage detector. 

The company has six proprietary products and received over 25 patents in India for its various solutions to solving everyday problems for blue-collar workers in sectors like mining, manufacturing, factories, insurance, warehousing, logistics, transportation, oil and gas. 

Established in 2020, Proxgy raised Rs 1 crore from former BharatPe MD Ashneer Grover and Lenskart founder Peyush Bansal in a pre-seed round when it participated in the reality show Shark Tank India 2022. It is currently in the process of closing its seed round at a $16 million valuation.
