Pegasystems, a US-based software company, is reportedly laying off approximately 4%, which is about 240 employees across various locations. This decision is due to the company's reorganization of customer success roles. As per reports, some of these layoffs are expected to occur in Massachusetts.

In an official statement, Pegasystems mentioned that these job cuts will primarily affect go-to-market roles and are part of the company's efforts to simplify client engagement and align with its business strategy. This marks the second round of layoffs for Pegasystems this year, as they had previously sacked around 4% of their workforce.

"These will be go-to-market roles in order to simplify our client engagement approach and better support our business strategy. The workforce reductions are part of the company's goal to improve its go-to-market operating model," the company filing read.

In the broader tech industry context, it's worth noting that there has been a significant number of layoffs this year, with data from Jefferies and TrueUp indicating over 342,000 tech industry layoffs, surpassing the figures for the entire previous year. However, there appears to be a slowdown in tech industry job cuts in recent months, with potential improvement in the coming month.

Despite the ongoing interest in artificial intelligence and technology, tech companies have not yet significantly increased hiring following the substantial layoffs in the past year. This trend reflects the broader economic picture, where job openings have decreased, and layoffs have also reduced, suggesting cautiousness among employers regarding staff reductions.
