The Advisory Committee is poised to play a pivotal role in guiding the development of blockchain-based solutions that advance the objectives of financial inclusion
The Algorand Foundation's India-focused initiative AlgoBharat announced the creation of its India Advisory Committee in order to further its goal of promoting the adoption of blockchain technology in order to realise the goals of a more equitable economy.
RS Sharma, a former civil servant recognised for his revolutionary leadership in the Government of India, will preside over the six-person group. Dr. Sharma has over three decades of experience in digital governance and innovation, and he has been a driving force behind reforms and the adoption of new technologies to streamline and enhance the management of government operations.
Reacting to it, Sharma said, "Blockchain technology holds immense potential to support India's growth narrative, and this step to establish an India Advisory Committee underscores the Algorand Foundation’s commitment to achieving this potential. As Chair of the committee, I am excited to collaborate with distinguished experts who bring decades of experience in public sector leadership and innovation. Together, we aim to harness blockchain's transformative power to ensure a more inclusive and equitable future for India, enhancing access to essential services and driving social parity.
Anil Kakani, vice president and India country head at the Algorand Foundation said, "As the understanding and appreciation of the potential for blockchain technology to create substantial real-world impact across various sectors grows, our Advisory Committee’s support will only accelerate India's ascent as a global blockchain leader and the development of sustainable Web3 solutions that can foster economic growth and create a more inclusive society."
The foundation’s full India Advisory Committee is comprised of Dr. Indu Bhushan (First CEO of Ayushman Bharat), Dr. KP Krishnan, Anuradha Mitra, Prashant Saran, and Dr. Sharma among others.
Since its launch in January 2023, AlgoBharat has gained momentum through training programs, strategic partnerships, and investment into the Web3 start-up ecosystem. The recently launched Creating Impact! The Pitch Competition, which included developer workshops and office hours in cities across India, will culminate in Algorand Foundation’s first-ever Global Impact Summit at the Leela Palace Hotel in New Delhi on November 30 and December 1. The Summit will bring to the stage some of the most innovative solutions with real-world utility built on Algorand from across the globe with preeminent thought leaders from various fields.
