Goa's Minister for Tourism, Information Technology, and Printing and Stationary, Rohan Khaunte, announced that the government's goal is to place Goa among the top 25 Asian start-up hubs.

On account of Republic Day in Mapusa, he stated that the government is actively encouraging youth to launch start-ups and is offering incentives and schemes to support them.

Khaunte also highlighted that there are currently around 165 start-ups in Goa with a total investment of around Rs 3 crore, and that the informational technology (IT) sector has benefited 219 Goans through online services.

He emphasised the government's focus on the Start-up India policy and initiatives such as Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India, as well as efforts to improve ease of doing business and penalising illegal operations.

Additionally, Khaunte stated that the tourism department is working to keep beaches clean and safe through an upcoming integrated beach management and surveillance system. He also said that the government will do all within its might to see that the Mhadei river is not diverted and sought the cooperation of everyone in doing so.

“A proactive tourism department is issuing fines and asking police to lodge FIRs against offenders to make Goa a responsible tourism State,” he added.
