Resilient Innovations, the parent company of BharatPe, has initiated legal proceedings against co-founder Ashneer Grover. The company has filed a new case in the Delhi High Court, seeking an injunction to prevent the disclosure of what it deems 'confidential information' related to the company.

This legal action follows Grover's sharing of details on social media about the equity allocation and secondary components associated with BharatPe's recent Series E funding round, amidst a backdrop of controversies involving him as reported by The Economic Times.

In a recent funding round, spearheaded by Tiger Global and joined by Dragoneer Investor Group, BharatPe secured $370 million, establishing the fintech firm's valuation at $2.86 billion.

However, BharatPe's counsel contended in court that Ashneer Grover's actions breached terms specified in his employment agreement, alleging that he divulged confidential information pertaining to the company.

Despite Grover deleting the post, BharatPe argues that he retains confidential company information even after his resignation, violating his employment agreement. Justice Sachin Dutta presided over the recent hearing where Grover's counsel reportedly issued an apology on his behalf for the alleged breach of confidentiality.

The court accepted the apology, but the issue of Grover still possessing confidential information remains to be addressed in upcoming hearings, according to the ET report.

This legal action is an additional development alongside an ongoing civil suit initiated by BharatPe against Grover and his family members. The suit alleges embezzlement of funds and seeks damages of up to Rs 88.67 crore.

The legal dispute between the parties has extended to disagreements regarding Grover's social media conduct. BharatPe has taken steps to secure an injunction against what it perceives as 'unparliamentary language' used by Grover in his online posts.

This week, Grover, accompanied by his wife Madhuri Jain, underwent questioning by the Delhi Police's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) concerning the alleged fraud case. The police investigation uncovered connections between at least eight human resource consultancy firms and relatives of Jain, who is not only Grover's wife but also the former head of controls at BharatPe.
