Homegrown edtech platform Simplilearn acquired the US-based company Fullstack Academy. The company did not disclose the amount of this deal.

With this deal, Simplilearn will aim to scale up its business in the North American region.

Fullstack was earlier backed by Zovio, an Arizona-based edtech company. For the past few months, Zovo had been looking to sell Fullstack Academy, at a selling price of $34-55 million.

Earlier this month, Simplilearn raised $45 million in a fresh funding round led by global-edtech platform GSV Ventures. Apart from GSV Ventures, other investors including Clal Insurance, DisruptAD, and ADQ also participated in the funding round.

“Today, we are excited to partner with GSV Ventures, a globally recognised investor with a strong track record in the education sector, along with a strong set of co-investors in Clal Insurance and DisruptAD. This funding … at a time when the industry is going through turmoil … stands as a testimony to our steady, profitable growth,” Krishna Kumar, founder and CEO of the company, said while addressing the investment at that time.

In July 2021, a US-based investment management company Blackstone invested $250 million to acquire a 60 per cent stake in Simplilearn.

“We are constantly looking for acquisitions and Blackstone being an acquisitive fund is open to inorganic bets,” Krishna Kumar told the Economic Times while talking about the acquisition.

Founded in 2009, Bengaluru-based platform Simplilearn is known for offering digital skilling programmes for professionals.
