California-based edtech platform Coursera offers access to business certification programmes to the families of Reliance Industries Limited’s ( RIL) employees, Mint reported.

The company said that access to these specialised courses would be free and unlimited. Additionally, it will provide access to video clips.

The start-up started these certification programmes in the time of the covid-19 pandemic. Mint reported that more than one lakh students enrolled on the courses from May 2020 to December 2022.

“Reliance employees will now have unlimited access to all Coursera for Business certifications from over 170 prestigious universities such as Carnegie-Mellon University, Yale University, University of Michigan, and Johns Hopkins University, as well as organisations such as Meta, Google, SAP and Microsoft," Coursera said in an internal announcement, on December 28.

“On Reliance Family Day, we are happy to deepen our partnership with Coursera even further. We are proud to become the first company in India to extend the full benefits of the Coursera programme to our colleagues and now also to their family members," Ashwani Prashwara, CHRO of RIL wrote to Mint in an email.

Recently, Coursera partnered with a German multinational company called SAP to upskill two million people by 2025 through SAP's newly launched low-code solution programme SAP Build.

Jeff Maggioncalda, CEO of Coursera, addressed the collaboration by saying, “I’m happy to announce that today SAP is launching an entry-level professional certificate on Coursera. This certificate is designed for learners of all backgrounds, with no college degree or industry experience required."

“It will prepare learners for entry-level job roles and in some of the most in-demand fields. We are honoured to partner with SAP to increase access to job-related skills and expand economic opportunity for everyone,” he added.
