America's educational non-profit organisation Code.org has filed a lawsuit in America against WhiteHat Jr., a subsidiary of India's leading edtech Byju's, over outstanding payments.

In a lawsuit filed in a California district court, Code.org alleged that WhiteHat Jr., which was acquired by Byju's for $300 million in 2020, continued to use its coding education platform, but as part of a licensing agreement, the remaining fee was not paid, as per a report by Techcrunch.

According to the lawsuit, WhiteHat Jr. paid his 2022 license fee. But then informed Code.org that it would be unable to make the remaining $4 million scheduled payments under the four-year deal, the report added.

Byju's has not yet commented on the report or the lawsuit.

Byju's paid $300 million in cash to acquire WhiteHat Jr. in August 2020.

WhiteHat Jr. founder Karan Bajaj received one of the largest exits in India's start-up ecosystem as a result of the transaction.

Meanwhile, Byju's was planning to rebrand coding platform WhiteHat Jr as Byju's Future School with an expanded offline presence report claimed in September.
