Tumbledry, a provider of laundry and dry clean services, plans to open 2000 stores by 2025, to tap the opportunity in tier 1 and 2 cities. Since December 2022, it has opened 189 stores, opening one store per day over the past six months.
According to a Research and Markets report, India's laundry service market in India had a value of $35.83 billion in 2020 and an estimated worth of Rs 2.2 lakh crore. Despite this, 96 per cent of the Indian laundry industry remains unorganised.
Tumbledry aims to tap into this growing market by offering franchise opportunities, providing a chance to be part of a rapidly growing industry with a high return on investment, especially in smaller cities and towns.
Tumbledry has operated 604 stores in 198 cities as a franchise-based business model in 48 months. In March, April and May 2023, it introduced 25, 35, and 30 stores, respectively. It has over 70 stores in the works, scheduled to go live in June and July 2023.
The company supports its franchisees, including training, guidance on operations, marketing assistance, and promotional activities. Data shows that out of the total franchise partners on-boarded by Tumbledry, a significant 40 per cent are from tier 2 and 3 towns, highlighting its intent to reach customers beyond metropolitan areas.

Tumbledry utilizes machinery and chemicals sourced from Sweden, America, and Germany. It also boasts an in-house academy to train its washermen and pressmen to ensure proper care of the laundered clothes.
With a focus on hygiene, Tumbledry processes each customer's clothes separately and guarantees 99 per cent stain removal with specially developed chemicals. Customers can witness the cleaning process in live stores and track orders through the mobile app, which includes free home pickup and delivery.
