E-Commerce Platform Joom Launches Services In India: Report

Lisbon-based global e-commerce platform Joom has started its operations in India. According to a Business Today (BT) report, the company has launched a platform to consolidate local merchants and exporters in eight Indian cities like Mumbai, New Delhi, Indore, Jaipur, Surat, Roorkee and Ludhiana. It has also claimed to onboard over 350 merchants. 

Currently, Joom offers products across categories like fashion, jewellery, crystal healing, health supplements, skin and hair care and others. The BT report stated that it started new segments like cosplay items. 

Founded in 2016 in Latvia, Joom claims to register nearly 400 million customers till date. It also runs a pharmaceutical marketplace called Onfy, the fintech platform JoomPay, a logistics service Joom Logistics and JoomPro. 

In a statement, the company claimed that the newly launched platform would help traders from Small and Medium Enterprises to get access to the European and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) markets. 

“Nearly 50 per cent of these SMEs, exporters and D2C businesses never sold their products in the global market earlier, and were able to reach international markets for the first time with Joom,” it added.

“Indian merchants who started connecting to Joom at the beginning of 2022 have not only successfully mastered the platform but have made it to the top-5 of origins, showing an average increase of 50 per cent per month since their launch," Maxim Belov, Head of Asia-Pacific Business Development at Joom, said.
