The Indian Venture and Alternate Capital Association (IVCA), hosted the latest edition of its “IVCA Green Future Series” virtually. The event focused on the “Transition from ICE to EV ~$1 Trillion Investment Opportunity”.

It examined the recent developments within the automotive sector, with a particular focus on the surging interest in electric vehicles (EVs) and the diminishing popularity of internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. The session also investigated how this industry shift is presenting significant investment prospects owing to the anticipated expansion of the EV market.

According to the Economic Survey 2023, India's EV market will expand at a CAGR of 49 per cent between 2022 and 2030, reaching 10 million annual sales by 2030. Through the latest IVCA Green Future session, IVCA aims to highlight the high potential of India’s EV sector while contributing to the growth of India's climate resilience.

The keynote speaker at the session, Satish Mandhana, senior managing director and chief investment officer at Eversource Capital, said, “Beyond financial opportunity, investing in EVs aligns with the environmental goal, contributing to a greener, more sustainable future, which can be a significant selling point for companies and investors. To fully grasp the enormity of the trillion dollar opportunity, it is essential to understand that this transition is not confined to one region or industry.”

Besides Satish Mandhana, the session featured a panel discussion with speakers like, Akshay Shekhar, founder, Kazam; Kishlaya Misra, senior investment officer, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank; Kunal Khattar, founding partner, AdvantEdge Ffunders; Priya Shah, General Partner, Theia Ventures; Saurav Kumar, founder and CEO, Euler Motors; and Sheetal Bahl, Partner, Merak Ventures.

In the panel discussion, the speakers analysed the current trends in the automotive industry and explored how the transition from ICE to EV has created a substantial investment opportunity. The session also highlighted the government policies and incentives aimed at driving the adoption of EVs and reducing carbon emissions.

Indian Venture and Alternate Capital Association (IVCA) is a not-for-profit, apex industry body promoting the alternate capital industry and fostering a vibrant investing ecosystem in India.
