GitHub, an open-source software development platform, announced that its developer platform will now be available to Indian developers. It is expected to give the country's start-up ecosystem a fillip. Qualified entrepreneurs will receive up to 20 accessible GitHub Enterprise seats and guidance from the company's technical experts for a year.

The company's blog post stated that this "includes a start-up-friendly onboarding experience, regular office hours, and best practice sharing from GitHub technical experts."

Microsoft-owned GitHub has more than 7.2 million developers in India and more than 83 million worldwide. 'GitHub for Start-ups', launched earlier this year, claims to have assisted many start-ups in the pilot group, including a few in India.

They were provided tools for collaboration, productivity, and security to help them harness the speed of creation. The California-based software enterprise has collaborated with some venture capital, accelerator and start-up support organisations to make its developer platform available to companies in their ecosystems.

"As the home for the world's developers, it is our responsibility to provide entrepreneurs access to our complete developer platform, so anyone can rapidly and securely turn their aspirations into the next great start-up of tomorrow," said Thomas Dohmke, CEO of GitHub.

Talking about his experience Madhav Krishna, founder of Vahan, said, "GitHub for Start-ups is the best wingman an engineering manager could ask for. Its powerful CI/CD tools helped us automate tasks like linting, testing, and publishing, saving countless engineering hours."

GitHub also announced that all users will be required to use one or more types of two-factor authentication (2FA) by the end of 2023.
